Mumbai, 13th April 2022 – Filmmaker Neeraj Pandey, who is known for thriller movies like A Wednesday, Special 26, Baby and more, forayed into digital space with Special OPS franchise series, says thanks to digital medium, now only audience has variety of content, but makers are opting for better stories.
Neeraj Pandey was interacting with NewsHelpline on the sidelines of Operation Romeo press-meet in Mumbai.
Talking about digital space has changed the landscape of storytelling, Neeraj said, “Plenty of benefits of digital or OTT platforms, people are enjoying such a wide variety of content, not just here but worldwide. And our makers are also getting the understanding what’s working not just here in India but worldwide. And it is my understanding that now the stories will be much better”
Neeraj Pandey’s latest offering as producer, Operation Romeo, is a coming-of-age drama based on police brutality, starring Sharad Kelkar, Bhumika Chawla, Kishore Kadam and more.
Talking about producer playing any role in actor selection, Neeraj said, “I’d worked with Sharad Kelkar, Kishore Kadam, and Bhoomika Chawla in the past, and I just suggested their names, I didn’t select them, that decision came from casting team. Shashank Shah selected them as they fit the role”
Further adding about the movie, Neeraj said, “This is something which has happened with everyone, maybe the intensity might have varied, this is something which has happened to everyone, and this is one of the biggest reasons to make this film, the story is relatable, and to be honest, a man is the most vulnerable during that time. He finds himself helpless when situations like this happens”
Helmed by Shashant Shah and bankrolled by Friday Filmworks and Shital Bhatia, the film will release theatrically on 22nd April 2022.
Apart from Operation Romeo, filmmaker Neeraj is also producing and written forthcoming Vikram Vedha, which stars Hrithik Rosha and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles.
